Rust + CHERI Working Group
This working group explores the intersection of the Rust programming language and the CHERI hardware architecture. Rust provides compile‑time memory safety via its ownership model, while CHERI offers runtime enforcement of pointer bounds using capabilities. Together they offer a powerful defence against memory vulnerabilities【785327860471465†L158-L174】. The group investigates best practices for writing Rust code that targets CHERI, examines tooling support and collaborates on compiler and runtime enhancements. It also works with the Rust community to upstream necessary changes and to ensure that CHERI benefits can be accessed from safe and unsafe Rust code【785327860471465†L175-L182】.
