About the certification programme
The CHERI Enabled logo identifies products that the CHERI Alliance believes correctly implement CHERI technology. According to evidence supplied by the applicant, the Alliance assesses whether a product applies the right security principles from CHERI【743321252176403†L148-L160】. Use of the logo is subject to the Alliance’s trademark requirements. The programme does not yet include independent lab testing; instead it relies on the applicant’s good faith when completing questionnaires and during interviews【743321252176403†L159-L166】. The logo itself does not guarantee the overall security of a product; comprehensive security assurance requires a full evaluation, for which the CHERI certification materials are a useful input【743321252176403†L168-L170】.
Continuous improvement
The certification programme evolves as new lessons are learned, standards are adopted and test suites are developed. Certified products should be reviewed every two years so that improvements to the programme are reflected in the product list【743321252176403†L172-L180】.
Certified products
The first products certified under the programme are:
- CHERIoT – a 32‑bit RISC‑V microcontroller core supporting the CHERIoT ISA (see its product page for details).
- X730 – Codasip’s 64‑bit CHERI‑RISC‑V application processor (see its product page for details).
Application process
The certification process is iterative: applicants submit a questionnaire that is reviewed and followed by interviews. Products applying for certification for the first time undergo a full assessment; re‑assessments or derivatives follow a simplified path【743321252176403†L191-L200】.
Certification fees
Certification helps fund the Alliance’s mission. The fee schedule is:
